Schenectady

October 2013 music

A light swing song I wrote for a jazz harmony class that was featured as telephone hold music for Google.

Schenectady is a song I wrote for my jazz harmony class that subsequently got picked up by Google for their hold music as part of a competition while I was an employee there.

The song tries to emulate the sound of an old-timey jazz standard. The name “Schenectady” is where Thomas Edison famously had a laboratory — though I picked it as the title of the song primarily because it has the zip code 12345.
